About Us
Michael
Hi, I’m Michael and I’m the Instructor for Hooman Hunters Mantrailing. I’ve been a Professional Firefighter for 28 years with 41/2 years in Mt Isa and the rest here in Hervey Bay. My interests are – gardening, when I can get around to it. Crossfit at Crossfit Hervey Bay and dog training with my dog Marquise.
I started Mantrailing because there were little opportunities to train Marquise in trailing around Hervey Bay. I came across Manhunt K9 online. I did one session down the Sunshine Coast with Manhunt K9 and after, thought this would be ideal for Marquise.
I decided to do the instructors course after talking to Louis, who runs Manhunt K9. I found out there was going to be a course in Brisbane, so I applied and now I’m an Accredited Mantrailing Global Instructor.
I’m hoping I can bring the sport of Mantrailing to owners and their dogs for fun morning or afternoon out in the fresh air. My training areas will be in the Maryborough/Hervey Bay area.

Marquise
I’m Marquise and I’m a Belgian Malinois. I am friendly with people and I’m working on my manners with other dogs that come near my Hooman. I was born December 2021. I’m the top dog of this operation and it’s all about me.
I like Mantrailing because I get to hang out with my Hooman, trailing scents through the bush, along footpaths or wherever the scent goes.
My scent trailer is Taylah, she is working with my Hooman. He calls her ‘Dog Bait’ because she’s the bait.
I hope I can meet other people and their dogs at Hooman Hunters Mantrailing and we can have fun tracking down Dog Bait.
Taylah
My name is Taylah and I’m 15 years old. I’m in Year 9 at school in Hervey Bay. My favourite subjects are HPE and Dance. I spend my spare time playing Indoor and Outdoor Netball for Breakaways and also do Crossfit. I also work as an Assistant Coach teaching younger children the Foundations of Crossfit Fitness.
Why do I like Maintrailing?
I’m the trail layer for Hooman Hunters Mantrailing. MicMac (Michael) calls me “Dog Bait’ as I’m the “Bait” the dogs are trailing for.
When first introduced to Marquise, she was so inquisitive and I was amazed watching her follow my scent. The more trails we did, showed me how clever she is and the amazing places she can get through and still find me.
I am looking forward to help trail for other dogs so they can enjoy being dogs and have fun in the sport of Mantrailing. Also help the dogs owners as well, to get to know how their dogs operate as a separate living being.
